Precision Air gets new CEO

Precision Air Services Plc, has announced Mr. Patrick Mwanri (44) as its new Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
The company said in a statement that Mr Mwanri, who has been working as acting CEO since April 2019, officially assumed the new role effective from 1st November 2019. According to the statement, Mr Mwanri has a wealth of experience of over 15 years in aviation, having joined Precision Air in 2004 as a Flight Operations Officer and has risen up the ranks holding various positions in the airline including Crew Scheduling & Administration Manager, Quality Manager, Head of Quality, Safety and Environment and Head of Quality, Safety and Security a position he was holding prior to his Acting appointment as Group Managing Director & CEO in April 2019. Shirika la ndege la SWISS Inrernational Airlines ambalo linamilikiwa na Shirika la ndege la Lufthansa la Ujerumani, limesimamisha safari za ndege zake zote aina ya Airbus A220 kutokana na matatizo ya injini zake. Injini zote za ndege hizo zimelazimika kukaguliwa ili kuhakiki usalama wake. Ndege hizo hutumia injini aina ya PW 1500G zinazotengenezwa na kampuni ya Pratt & Whitney ya Canada. 
Shirika hilo limesema lipo katika mazungumzo na mamlaka za usimamizi wa usafiri wa anga na pia mtengenezaji wa ndege hizo ambaye ni kampuni ya Airbus. 
Mamlaka ya usafiri wa anga ya Marrekani FAA ilitoa muongozo kwamba injini zote za A220 ambazo ni Pratt & Whitney zinatakiwa kufanyiwa ukaguzi zaidi wa kiusalama.

Air Tanzania Limited (ATCL ) attains IOSA registration.

AIR Tanzania Company Ltd (ATCL) has successfully attained IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registration. The country's flag carrier has successful closed the IOSA audit to attain this certification approval.



With this certification ATCL  joins its regional peers on IOSA registry namely; Kenya Airways, Precision Air, RwandaAir and Ethiopian Airlines.

The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) is the benchmark for global safety management in airlines. All IATA members are registered and must remain registered in order to maintain IATA membership.

The advantage of having IOSA certification is to increase business since passengers build confidence and trust to be flying into safe hands.

The certification is expected to boost ATCL business especially in the regional and international routes. And will also enable the country's flag carrier to enter into new joint ventures and code sharing easily.

Air France-KLM Orders 60 Airbus A220 Jets to Upgrade Its Aging Fleet

Air France-KLM ordered Airbus SE narrow-body jets worth $5.5 billion and announced the retirement of its A380 superjumbos as Chief Executive Officer Ben Smith reshapes the fleet to cut costs and boost margins.

The group’s French arm will buy 60 A220 planes and placed options for 60 more, according to a statement this Tuesday. The double-decker A380, in its last years of production after a slump in sales, will be phased out by 2022.

“This is a very important next step in Air France’s transformation,” Smith said in the statement, adding that it’ll help the carrier “attain European airline leadership.” He highlighted the A220 aircraft’s performance and comfort.

The Canadian executive, who took over in September, is turning his attention to the fleet requirements that had been put on hold as he focused on labor unrest in his first months in charge. Air Botswana wishes to distance itself from the discussions doing the rounds on social media regarding the non-operation of flights to Maun during the weekend of 17-19 May 2019 as being politically motivated.
The airline considers this inappropriate and damaging to its image and reputation. The decision to rationalize the schedule of the airline is purely based on its current resource and capacity constraints. This situation, the objective of which is to operate a lean and efficient operation, is closely monitored with a view to availing extra capacity to our passengers as soon as resources become available. It is in the interest of the airline to fully revert to its schedule, as soon as it is practical to do so sustainably.

Boeing Announces fixes for its 737 max aircraft.

Boieng has issued changes to controversial control system linked to two fatal crashes of its 737 Max planes in the past five months.

But it is still not certain when the planes which were grounded worldwide this month,will be allowed to fly.

  Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the accidents.

  As part of the upgrade,Boeing  will install an extra warning system on all 737max aircraft.which was previously an optional safety feature.

Neither of the planes operated by lion air in Indonesia and Ethiopian Airlines,that were involved in the fatal crashes carried the alert systems ,which are designed to warn pilots when sensors produce contradictory readings.

Boeing  said that airlines would no longer be charged extra for that safety system to be installed.

 The plane maker has issued an upgrade to the software that linked to the accident.

Precision Air Now Eyes Chato and Dodoma.

Tanzania leading Airline Precision Air, is considering to start flights to the capital city of Tanzania Dodoma and Chato in Geita. The airline, which was established 25 years ago is currently operating to 10 domestic destinations. Speaking to the press in his office Precision Air’s Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager, Mr. Hillary Mremi said, Precision has identified the potential market on those two routes and already has started plans to analyze the market so as to design suitable schedule. “There have been key developments in these two destinations, on one hand, the fact that the Government is moving to Dodoma definitely there is going to be a big movement of people to and from Dodoma. Precision Air launches Apprenticeship Programme

Precision Air Services PLC has launched an apprenticeship programme for young aircraft technicians as part of efforts to combat scarcity of licenced aircraft engineers in the Tanzanian market. 
The airline says the programme is also aimed at developing needed skills for its technical unit through field attachment, volunteering and apprenticeship. 
In the first intake of the programme, the company has recruited 22 candidates who will undergo on the job training at the engineering and maintenance department.
Precision Air managing director Sauda Rajab said finding needed skills in the aviation industry in Tanzania is one of the biggest challenges, which the firm, as one of the industry players, cannot sit back and complain.
